Strut Plate

ClarkDietrich Strut Plate connects steel studs to other studs, beams, or columns while allowing vertical movement and preventing load transfer. It enables direct fastening when aligned with the stud web, eliminating extra framing and materials.

Designed to accommodate vertical movement, this plate connects steel studs while preventing the transfer of vertical loads. It is ideal for conditions where one stud projects beyond another or where a stud terminates at the face of a concrete pier or column.  When the attachment surface aligns with the stud web, the plate allows for direct fastening, reducing the need for added materials or framing buildup commonly required with traditional connectors.

Key Features

  • Vertical movement up to 2-1/2” (1-1/4” up and 1-1/4” down)
  • Reduces framing buildup
  • Proprietary Deflection Screws included

Installation

  • Align the plate at the connection point so the attachment surface is flush with the stud web and oriented to allow vertical movement.
  • Fasten the plate to the primary stud using four (4) #10 self-drilling screws in the fixed holes.
  • Attach the adjoining stud using two (2) proprietary deflection screws through the slotted holes.
  • Verify the connection permits vertical movement and does not transfer vertical loads.
